Oregon Manufacturing Company Awarded $86 Million Defense Contract

Allen Erickson, President and CEO of Lacamas Laboratories, a specialty chemical manufacturing firm in Portland, Oregon, announced today that they have been awarded a Department of Defense (DOD) contract of over $86 million for the development and construction of manufacturing capability that will enable critical defense materials to be produced by American firms, rather than outsourcing production to overseas suppliers, notably China.

“We are proud to have been granted this opportunity by the Department of Defense. Moving manufacturing away from China and back onto American soil gives the DOD more security over critical chemical manufacturing while providing greater opportunity for smaller American companies like Lacamas and the people we employ,” Erickson said. “It is important to note that Lacamas is required to provide 5% of the final construction costs, so we have an investment in this process as well.”

Construction on this expansion will be done using local firms as often as possible. It will be built to exacting standards to deliver quality, competitive products in a sustainable, safe, modern, environmentally sound facility.

Lacamas Laboratories is a specialty chemical manufacturing facility located in Portland, Oregon. Lacamas products include pharmaceuticals as well as chemical intermediates used in other specialty chemical development.
